February 25, 2002 Men's Crew back on the Water In probably the earliest date in several years, UMass crew is back on the Connecticut river. Mornings have been beautiful, warm, and calm. Practice, technical work and training have all been kicked into high gear as UMass looks forward to a thrilling Spring Racing season. A large varsity team is building on the success of both varsity and novice last year and hopes to achieve similar result this year. Our top Varsity 8 will be taking a trip to the San Diego Crew Classic this year in California. We want to show the country that UMass is crew to be reckoned with.

November 5, 2001 Fall funddrive in full swing! The UMass Men's Crew has begun their annual fundraising drive. We are asking for your support over the next couple of months. The Men's Crew and the UMass Crew Alumni Association have set a goal of $10,000 for this year's fundraiser. The funds raised this year will go towards the purchase of new indoor and outdoor rowing equipment. This equipment includes new rowing ergometers for the team for indoor winter training, and a new rowing shell to accommodate our growing team. Currently the UMass Men's Crew is 50 members strong, however we are only equipped to carry 30 members. As our team grows so does the depth of our program and our athlete pool. We have a great bunch of athletes that are very motivated to continue in the tradition of UMass Rowing Excellence however they need the necessary equipment to meet these high standards. Please help support your crew this year with a donation to: UMass Men's Crew Annual Fundraiser 416 Student Union Building University of Massachusetts Amherst. MA 01003 USA (Checks can be made payable to UMass Men's Crew) |

September 17, 2001 Scheduled Race at Trent University Cancelled The events of September 11th have effected everyone, including UMass Crew. Due to a tighter Canadian border requiring passports for everyone who crosses, the varsity men will not be able to travel to Canada to participate in the Head of the Trent Regatta. We will instead be racing in the Textile River Regatta in Lowell, MA. |

March 1, 2001 Umass crew website goes live! The redesign of the Umass crew club's website brings an interactive tool to the hands of rowers and alumni. Aside from the usual information such as race results, news bullettins, and images from spring break, users are now able to search information stored in the crew database. Information available in the database is limited to name, city, state and email address giving respect to our members' privacy. If you are an alumnus or friend of the crew and don't find yourself listed among the names in the database, simply send an email to our Database Administrator to get in the database and on the list for all Umass crew mailings. |
